EinTanzHaus

EinTanzHaus in Mannheim’s Trinitas Church is a unique centre for contemporary dance housed in a cultural memorial. Created in 2017 under the direction of Daria Holme and Éric Trottier, the venue not only has a 200m2 stage but also boasts a one-off synergy of architecture, cultural platform and artistic initiative. Implementation of the EinTanzHaus+ programme will support the further development of the venue into a production house with an international reach.

Over the next three years, EinTanzHaus will be using TANZPAKT funding in several steps aimed at developing its programme and networks, and creating sustainable structures for contemporary dance in Germany. The first step will be to improve conditions for regional artists by offering such things as daily professional training and further education and production opportunities. EinTanzHaus will also be presenting a series of guest performances by companies from across Germany and overseas. The content focus of these support performances will be on formats at the interface between dance, music and visual art, and which go beyond established working models. Planned projects of EinTanzHaus include an arts award for interdisciplinary dance projects, joint discussion events as well as residencies.

EinTanzHaus is located in the middle of Mannheim’s ‘squares’ and aims to be a venue for all city residents. Discourse events will mark the start of a dialogue about the art of our time involving artists, experts, and audiences. There is also a new and wholly special offer for children. EinTanzHaus is launching a Junior Dance Company in 2018 that will support the next generation of dance enthusiasts with regular training and their own dance productions.
