As one of the first projects funded by TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund, MV TANZT AN has been providing impetus for a lively, inclusive, and innovative dance scene in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since 2018. In the future, the Tanz von Anfang an! (Dance from the Start!) format will inspire even preschoolers to engage in movement and creativity. Each year, a production is created for daycare centers, which is adapted for playgrounds, among other places. Rehearsals take place in a participatory manner in the movement rooms of the cooperating institutions. Twenty-five performances are planned each year, accompanied by workshops and playful activities for families and daycare groups. In addition, groups of artists who produce work during residencies at Schloss Bröllin will be given performance opportunities and visibility in the state through presentations, tours, collaborations with new partners, and integration into the Tanzfusionen festival. New collaborations with partners and venues in six districts are creating a network that strengthens “MV TANZT AN” in rural areas and brings local dance professionals together.

The Tanzregion Vorpommern association began as a collaboration between Perform[d]ance (Stralsund), Schloss Bröllin (Fahrenwalde), and Theater Vorpommern (Stralsund, Greifswald, and Putbus). Under the motto “Vorpommern tanzt an” (Vorpommern dances), the three initially provided a lively platform for contemporary dance in the Vorpommern region, until Mecklenburg joined in.
In addition to production residencies, there was a mentoring and advisory program for dance creators and producers, which also highlighted supra-regional production and presentation opportunities. The classroom dance pieces, which were developed with one or two dancers and then toured schools, were extremely successful.
The dance center established as part of “Vorpommern tanzt an” has been providing continuity, networking, lobbying, and consulting in the field of dance in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since November 2019
