Under the artistic direction of Ester Ambrosino, the independent dance company Tanztheater Erfurt has built up a stable network together with its structurally firmly anchored partners Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar and Theater Erfurt. Building on the previous successful TanzWert project, through which the contemporary dance theater works "Reprise," "Face Me – Le Sacre du printemps" and "Dante Alighieri – The Divine Comedy" were created, this cooperation will be continued from 2023 to 2025 and further expanded with two new productions. The aim is to consolidate the work among the cooperation partners and to present innovative dance theater pieces to Thuringian audiences. Current topics are to be interpreted through contemporary dance and combine the respective strengths of the partners.

The continuation and further development of TanzWert will not only consolidate the positive image of all partners involved, but also meet the public's desire to further establish and consolidate dance as an element of theater culture in Central Germany and beyond the state's borders.

Two productions are planned for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons, which will be developed and shown at Theater Erfurt and DNT Weimar in an interrelation. With the planned production "Follow Me", we will process a contemporary topic on divas of today and influencers*, take up the change of art and compare it with classical opera work.

In the second production, we will present a dance evening that deals with the topic of

choreographers work on the theme and take the audience on an inspiring journey that expresses the individual virtuosity of each artistic approach and movement language. In terms of dance, choreography and music, this promises to be an evening full of similarities and contrasts.
and contrasts and makes the diversity and developments of the last decades in international dance tangible for our audience. But the audience is also invited to interact by determining how the evening unfolds.

Under the direction of Ester Ambrosino, the independent dance company  is establishing a stable network in conjunction with structurally sound partners, namely Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar and Theater Erfurt. The funding awarded to the TanzWert project will facilitate the creation of three dance productions with different formats in both theatres and under optimal conditions. An innovative transfer programme is also intended to attract new audiences for dance.
TanzWert’s approach is to pursue the re-establishment of dance productions in the regular performance seasons.
The project will start with the production entitled Reprise at DNT in February 2019. This work for three dancers with live musical accompaniment takes a dance-based look at the Weimar Republic, the 100th anniversary of which is being celebrated during Democracy Week.

In the 2020/21 season, the second major production will celebrate its premiere with orchestra at the Erfurt Theatre on 08.05.2021. Dante Alighieri's “The Divine Comedy” provides the template for the contemporary adaptation by choreographer Ester Ambrosino and composer Michael Krause. The main characters Dante and Beatrice are embodied by dancers as well as an actor from the DNT and two singers from Theater Erfurt. All participating artists and the audience are challenged to critically and constructively engage with Dante's material. Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso form the framework for the story with clear references to our world today and combine to create a synthesis of the arts consisting of dance, drama and video art.
